Brennan's Gonna Be A...

I just wanted to go ahead and document this big milestone on the blog!

After eighteen months of trying and having surgery to remove an ovarian cyst in early February, on May 5 we found out that Brennan was going to be a big brother! Well, technically I found out because Kyle left early that morning to run a race in Boston with some friends. Once I took a positive pregnancy test, I knew I wanted to take Brennan to buy a big brother shirt he could be wearing when Kyle got home. We found the perfect one at Target and I changed him into it after nap. Kyle got home shortly after that and I couldn't wait for his reaction.

Kyle, being such a man, didn't even notice the shirt. I waited for a little while, but was getting too anxious for him to know, so I said to Brennan, "What do you want to show Daddy?" Brennan started pointing to his shirt just like we had practiced and Kyle said, "Is that your belly?" He STILL didn't pay attention to the shirt! Finally I just told Kyle, "Read his shirt!" and then he responded, "You're pregnant?!?"

Very poor quality picture, but at least you can see the shirt!

So much for a cool reveal, but it makes for a funny story. We had a pretty funny story when I told him about being pregnant with B too!

So far the pregnancy has been exactly like my pregnancy with Brennan, so I'm convinced it's another boy. I haven't been sick at all; just very very tired. Kyle laughs and says that I'm always tired even when not pregnant, but this is definitely a whole new level of exhaustion. I'm sure once the baby arrives that will bring on a completely different kind of exhaustion!

The due date is January 12, 2013 and Brennan will turn three on February 11. We are very thankful for this answer to prayer and continue praying for friends who are still waiting for their prayers to be answered!

Here are some of the pictures I captured on my phone this week!

He asked for a popsicle at 8am and this tired Momma said, "Why not?"

He's super into playing Memory right now. I can remember loving that game when I was little so it makes me happy that he loves it too!

We made our first trip of the summer to North Lake. He had a blast!

Then we came home and had to hose him down to get the sand off!

This morning he needed a snack at 9am, but at least he asked for pears!

Quarterly Top Five!

I have to admit that I am using my iPhone way too much and the good camera way too little, but I was still able to pick out some super adorable shots of B from April, May, and June. They aren't technically sound, but thankfully Brennan is cute enough to make any picture look good!

Ever since we converted Brennan's crib into a toddler bed, he has loved getting in it and playing. Numerous times each day he will crawl in there and say, "Lay down" and lay his little head down for a just minute and then say, "Wake up!" The other day he got in there and I guess he needed to get some energy out. He's not having a tantrum here, just playing and kicking his legs like crazy. If you listen closely you'll him say, "Ready, set, go" and count to 10. I love my crazy little guy!

Dear Brennan,

You are 28 months old today! I've been neglecting the blog recently, but wanted to make sure I still did your update. It's been a fun month for sure! You are wearing 2T clothes and doing wonderful with going to the potty. You still wear a Pull-up at night. You'll have a full week here and there where you'll wake up dry in the morning, but then other weeks you'll be soaked each morning. I've been giving you a little Benefiber mixed in with one drink a day and that seems to be helping your BMs. I'm so glad because I hated seeing you struggle.

We had another big milestone this month; you gave up your binky! You only used it at nap and bedtime, but I was ready for it to be gone. I had been teasing you about throwing it in the trash for awhile, but you'd always laugh and say, "No." A few weeks ago, I asked you if you wanted to throw it in the trash and told you I'd buy you a new toy and that was apparently the trick. You got super excited about the idea of a new toy and went and threw your binky in the trash. Then we went and you picked out a Mater pillow pet! It's been gone since then! You slept fine without it from that day on. For about a week or so it took you a little longer to fall asleep, but other than it was super easy. I was shocked at how easy it was, but you've always been a laid back dude, so I'm not sure why it surprised me.

Your vocabulary continues to grow by leaps and bounds. It has been my favorite part of the past month. I love hearing you say new things and you just talk and talk and talk in your car seat when we're driving. My current favorite sayings are: "B do", "up me" (when you want to be picked up), and "try again". You also say "thank you" all the time. It's super cute! When someone holds a door for us you keep saying "thank you" until they acknowledge you.

You definitely have more energy now. When we are out and about you seem calm compared to most other boys, but you let loose at home. You have liked wrestling with Dadda for a while now, but now you LOVE it. It helps get some energy out before bathtime each night. When you get hyper, you'll just roll around on the floor and howl. It's quite funny. I guess Momma will have to take over the wrestling duties once Daddy goes back to a submarine next month.

We just had a awesome visit with Papaw and Linda. We hadn't seen them in a long time, but you warmed right up to them. We talk about Papaw all the time, so I think you knew exactly who he was when you saw him. We took them to the airport this morning, so you'll be sad tomorrow when Papaw's not here anymore.

Your iPhone skills are super impressive. We have thought about getting an iPad because we know you'd love it. You can work Momma's phone so well and and know right where all your games are. Your current favorites are Zoo Train and The ABC Song.

You are such a sweet boy. I love our cuddle time before you go to sleep. I'm so happy you still like me to rock you. You lay your head on my shoulder and give me little butterfly kisses. I mean, how cute is that?!?! I love you so very, very much!
